1. Physiological characteristics Your age, physical height and weight, your body mass, and health state can all be part of the length of time your body takes to drug detox. As an example, the older a person is, the slower their metabolic rate becomes. Thus, the older a person is, the more time a drug will remain in his or her system. Also, the greater an individual’s body mass is, the more time drugs will remain in their body whilst in drug detox.
2. Frequency of use One additional factor that can influence the length of time drugs remain in one’s system during drug detox is how frequently you have been abusing the drugs (one time per day, two times per day, etc.). So how often you abuse your drug of choice and how long you have been taking drugs can contribute to the length of time the substances stay in your body during drug detox.
3. Type of drugs Some drugs will take longer to metabolize during drug detox. So no matter what your personal metabolic rate is, the chemicals in some types of drugs will take more time to exit your system during drug detox. With chronic drug users (AKA dug addicts), drugs can stay in their system much more time during drug detox due the frequency and length of the abuse and because of damage caused by the drugs to the organs that metabolize the drugs.
